Green Silicon Carbide
Green Silicon Carbide (SiC) is an extremely hard synthetic mineral with high thermal conductivity and high strength at elevated temperatures (7.5 times stronger than Al2O3 at 1000 °C). It has a hardness of 9.4 on the Mohs scale (2600 Knoop). Green SiC is made from silica sand and petroleum coke and is extremely pure, breaking down into hexagonal, very sharp particles. It is harder than Black Silicon Carbide, with a Knoop hardness of 9.4 and 2600. Green silicon carbide is produced in the same way as black silicon carbide, differing only in raw materials.
